X-Worm general information
What is X-Worm used for?
X-Worm tablets 400mg are used to treat parasitic infections with tapeworm that cause a range of symptoms and diseases, depending on the location of the parasite in the body and the stage of its development. Tapeworm infections are caused by ingestion of eggs in infected food or by transmission of the adult tapeworm in faces, which become ingested due to poor hygiene. Conditions that X-Worm is used for include neurocysticercosis an infection with the pig tapeworm Taenia solium of the brain or spinal cord, causing seizures and swelling of the brain. X-Worm is also used to treat hydatid disease caused by the larval form of the dog tapeworm, Echinococcus granulosus that causes the formation of cysts in the liver, lung, and peritoneum resulting in symptoms including abdominal pain, jaundice, coughing and chest pain, depending on the location of the cysts. it may take months or years before symptoms appear. This form of tapeworm requires two hosts, a canine carnivore like the dog and an herbivore like sheep, which is the intermediate host for the production of eggs. The infection is usually transmitted to humans by handling infected dogs. X-Worm is also effective in treating infections with other intestinal parasites, including Ascaris lumbricoides (roundworm), Trichuris trichiura (whipworm), Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm/threadworm), Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus (hookworm).
How does X-Worm work?
X-Worm contains albendazole, a benzimidazole anthelmintic that is used to treat diseases caused by helminth intestinal parasites. Albendazole in X-Worm is effective against all stages of the parasite and works by binding to the colchicine-sensitive site of tubulin, which inhibits its polymerization and assembly into microtubules. This action of Albendazole in X-Worm inhibits the formation of microtubules in the cells of the parasite tegument and intestinal wall, resulting in a disruption of the metabolism of the parasite, including impaired glucose uptake, which depletes energy stores and eventually paralyses the parasite, which then dies.
