Celebrex Pfizer capsules 100mg are used to treat chronic inflammatory diseases such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, to reduce pain, inflammation, tenderness, stiffness and swelling in the affected joints. They are also used for the management of acute pain and treatment of dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain), when sufficient pain relief from other medications has not been achieved. Celebrex capsules 100mg does not cure arthritic disease but can relieve symptoms of pain and inflammation and improve the functional use of affected joints.
How does Celecoxib Pfizer work?
Celecoxib Pfizer capsules 100mg contain celecoxib, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking the production of specific chemicals called prostaglandins (PG) that mediate inflammation. Celecoxib in Celecoxib Pfizer capsules 100mg is a specific inhibitor of the enzyme cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) that is induced during the inflammation process and is responsible for the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins like PGE2, which causes pain, swelling and other symptoms of inflammation. Celecoxib Pfizer also has anti-pyretic action (reduces fever) but has no effect on the cyclooxygenase 1 enzyme (COX-1) that is needed for normal cellular processes. By inhibiting the action of COX-2 Celecoxib Pfizer capsules 100mg relieve the symptoms of inflammation, including pain, swelling, and joint stiffness.

- have an ulcer, gastric bleeding, irritable bowel disease or heart failure
- have kidney or liver disease
- are taking medicines that interact with Celecoxib Pfizer including: other NSAIDs, aspirin, anticoagulants like warfarin, oral corticosteroids, the antifungal drug fluconazole, diuretics like furosemide, lithium for depression, ACE inhibitors for high blood pressure, antacids for indigestion.
